The Main Street Place
The Main Street Place
A charming drive down the original brick streets of small-town Mt.Carroll leads you to this beautiful home. The first view that caught my eye as I arrived was the floor-to-ceiling windows on the front porch. The owner Nancy met me on arrival, and I got to hear her story and why she decided to turn this home into a destination for travelers. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, she and her husband Grant took on the full-time move during the pandemic to escape the busy city life for a historic atmosphere.
Inside the home, you will find two separate vacation rentals; Both host 4 guests with one bedroom and a queen-sized air mattress, a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, living room, and 1 bathroom with a walk-in shower.
The ground-level apartment of the home has very few stairs for easy mobility. Relax in the living room where you will enjoy the view of floor-to-ceiling windows in the front of the home. Enjoy your morning coffee or cook a meal in the well-stocked beautifully renovated kitchen with butcher block shelving. Sit on the side porch and enjoy the quiet serenity.
Walking into the upstairs of this home was like walking into the 1950s, a unique era that you don’t see much of anymore. Every piece of décor takes you back in time down to the Pyrex dishes, original magazines, and furniture.
Nancy and Grant went on a local adventure stopping at the small-town antique shops to find every piece of décor and furniture inside the home and brought it to life. The entire house is renovated with a modern mid-century design with some original character left behind. Enjoy the natural lighting, tall ceilings, and live plants throughout the home.
Enjoy and find comfort in the small town of Mt.Carroll.
