TRAILSIDE INN

Welcome to this hidden gem in Northwest Illinois known as Lake Carroll. Lake Carroll is a man-made recreational lake here in Carroll County, Illinois. With the population being at its highest during the summer months, it’s a great escape for anyone. Although the lake is private and you must have a visitor’s pass to enjoy all of the amenities and the lake itself, we have a spot just for you.

In the late 90s, Char and Bill Spathies visited the area with friends and family. During their time here, they fell in love with the rolling hills, nature, wildlife, and the private lake the area has to offer.  That is the start of the story on Trailside Inn. The gas station, convenience store, and lodging were built in the early 2000s.  They knew they wanted to leave the city life and enjoy our countryside views full time. They decided Lake Carroll would be their next home, so they found a lot, built a home and the hotel for everyone to be able to enjoy what they knew would soon become a destination for travelers. Enjoy the outdoor firepit area in the evenings, play mini golf at the onsite 18-hole mini golf course and visit the gift shop for a to go Bloody Mary.

Now everyone can enjoy this modern 12 room hotel.  All of the rooms include TV, A/C, refrigerator, microwave and hair dryers. Jacuzzi/fireplace rooms available.  Two miles west of Route 73. Free WiFi.

 

During your stay at Trailside Inn make sure to venue over to the convenience store for all of your needs.

Each month we offer one very special wine that has been personally selected for you.   Membership is simple: there is no cost to join and no time obligation.  Each month your charge card will be automatically billed between $10-$15 plus tax. You pick up your wine at Trailside when it’s convenient to you.
