A Northwest Illinois Joyride

Get your motor running and head out on the highway to Carroll County, IL! Book a vacation rental — with plenty of room for your bike — and use it as a base for your motorcycling weekend. Check out this handy three-day itinerary and plan your trip!

DAY 1

Ride in Friday and check into your vacation home for the weekend, whether you choose a lodge on the Mighty Mississippi or a secluded home in the Northwest Illinois wilderness. After you’ve settled in, visit the Iron Horse Social Club [LINK TO: Iron Horse Social Club directory page] in Savanna for an unforgettable dinner complete with live music and an in-house motorcycle museum!

DAY 2

Start your Saturday on the bike and head out for a hearty breakfast at Mt. Carroll Café. Afterward, ride through the gorgeous scenery of Carroll County, featuring a rolling landscape against the scenic backdrop of the Mississippi River.

Looking for something to do? Check out some of our independently owned shops, knock down a few pins at Mt. Carroll Bowling Center, or stop by some of our favorite fishing holes. Afterward, grab lunch at Mill Wheel Tavern in Milledgeville, home to a fantastic pork tenderloin as well as their famous Mill Wheel Chicken.

Spend the afternoon experiencing more of the open roads around Carroll County and let the road guide you to the famous Poopy’s, one of the largest biker destinations in the Land of Lincoln, featuring live entertainment, a full-service bar, and even an in-house tattoo parlor.

DAY 3

Spend a quiet Sunday morning sleeping in or relaxing, then unwind even more on a long ride that leads home.
