It’s that time of year. Temperatures are cooling and leaves are changing. The beautiful season of Autumn is around the here, which means fall festivals and scenic drives in Northwest Illinois.

Join us for pumpkin walks, horse-drawn wagon rides, chili fests, pumpkin patches, wine festivals, live music, and much more. Take part in all the activities Carroll County has to offer this fall. Here are just a few of the fun events happening this season:


Trail of Terror


Get ready to test your lungs. The annual Trail of Terror is back! Enjoy fall festivals, wine tasting, pumpkin patches and so much more.

Whether you’re a daredevil and want to walk the cemeteries and visit the haunted houses, or you’re more interested in sipping a glass of wine, or finding the perfect pumpkin, this is the event for you!

This spooktacular event is sure to please the entire family. Let the kids walk through cemeteries and visit the haunted houses while Mom and Dad sip on a glass of wine. Don’t forget to meet back up and pick out the perfect pumpkins.

Autumn on Parade Festival

Join us for the 43rd annual Autumn on Parade Festival in downtown Oregon. This event features a craft fair, farmer’s market, strolling entertainment and food provided by local not-for-profit organizations. An antique tractor show on Saturday and the ever-popular Harvest Time Parade on Sunday.Oh… also on Sunday, 10/5, is the ever popular DUCK DASH! Too much fun. It’ll “quack” you up. Autumn on Parade is held on the Ogle Co. Courthouse Square at the corner of IL Rt 64 & IL Rt 2 in Oregon. An Old English Faire will be held both days at Stronghold Castle located on IL Route 2 east of Oregon.

Fulton Fall Festival at Heritage Canyon

Our Fall Festival theme will be Pioneer Ways and we invite you to join the Early America Crafters on Oct. 4 & 5 and spend time experiencing life in our pioneer village. Experience pioneer living with the Early American Crafters as they prepare for the fall harvest. Demonstrations include broom stick making, wood stove cooking, weaving, knitting, candle making, wood carving, music, and more. Fulton Fall Festival

The Fulton Fall Festival will be held Saturday, October 4th, in downtown Fulton from 10am to 4pm. Activities include food vendors, arts & craft vendors, inflatable rides, entertainment, make n’ take crafts, pumpkin decorating, straw bale maze and more!

Savanna Haunted Forest

The Savanna Haunted Forest comes to life Oct 18,24,25,31 & Nov 1st at 1030 Viaduct Rd (behind Poopy’s) on Rt 84 in Savanna. Visit Savanna and experience the scarier-than-ever Haunted Forest! A wagon ride through the “Dungeon of Doom” will have you on the edge of your seat. New thrills & chills around every corner! Wagons start loading at sunset and continue until 11pm. $10 for adults/$5 child with parent. Try to relax before or after your trip at Poopy’s Pub & Grub outdoor facilities.

Mt Carroll Pumpkin Fest

Mt Carroll Great Pumpkin Street Drags

The Mt Carroll GREAT PUMPKIN STREET DRAGS will feature REAL pumpkin race cars battling in a unique side-by-side single elimination races featuring handcrafted, decorated Pumpkin Race Cars in a funky and hilarious display of American ingenuity. Entries in each age bracket will battle head-to-head for cash prizes! All races take place in downtown Mt Carroll. Line up begins at 1:15 and races begin at 2 pm.
